Tour One~Section One
Alex Jordan Jr. went to Deer Shelter Rock with his family as a child. It was a common spot where people would go and picnic. Alex loved this spot and always dreamed of building a house on top of the rock. He eventually bought the rock off of a farmer and did exactly what he dreamed. The house was inspired with an oriental flair. Alex never traveled any except through books. The original house was a retreat for him where he enjoyed his books, music, and art. He would have his friends over as well. Soon people received word about his amazing house on the rock that he ended up opening it up to the public to come view. He kept adding onto the house to display his collections. When touring the house it is broken up into three sections.
- Section One-The Original House, The Gate House, Oriental Gardens, and the Infinity Room.
- Section Two-Mill House, Streets of Yesterday, The Heritage of the Sea, Tribute to Nostalgia, Atrium Restaurant, Music of Yesterday, Spirit of Aviation, and The Carousel.
- Section Three-The Carousel, The Organ Room, Inspiration Point, The Doll House Room, The Circus Room, The Galleries, and The Doll Carousel Room.
I enjoyed walking through the gardens. I am very happy we started this at 9 am because as the day went on, it became very hot outside and I may not have enjoyed the gardens as much as I did.
