Friday Confessional

Photobucket

It's that time of week again... Friday Confessionals.
Come join the fun at Mamarazzi's

I confess...

It has been awhile since I have done any of my favorite linkys.  I missed them but I was so busy.  I would stop and read.  I feel bad, sort of like I let you all down.

I confess...

I am HAPPY I finally finished posting about my vacation last Sunday.  I have just been so busy that I could not even finish posting about my vacation.

I confess...

I have a huge weight lifted yesterday when I completed with the preparation of our temporary employee's training for Open Enrollment.  I had to write assessments for each day while I still did my usual duties.

I confess...

It is definitely different with having only 2 children living at home.  I have not had only 2 children living at home for a close to 16 years.  Todd it has been 7 and a half years.

I confess..

I have so much on my To Do List this weekend. I am off at 1 pm this afternoon and the clock begins to click starting then.  I plan to do a lot of deep cleaning and some painting, on top of more canning.  I am also in hopes of taking a picture of everything we have canned this month, minus what we have opened and feasted on already.  This year's crops of tomatoes have been the best year ever!  I am so thrilled to see them, yet I am now starting to feel... UGH so many.  It is a lot of work, but when I see the jars I am HAPPY!!!

Well my confessions are short and boring, plus I have to get ready for work.  I can't wait to take a break and read everyone confessions this week.

Vacation Day 7 ~ Cleveland, Ohio

Cleveland, Ohio was our final vacation stop and this one was more for me.  Now, I know everyone was going to enjoy it but I could not wait to see The Beatles items.  I know Todd okayed this stop just for me, well and for him too. We both love music, heck my entire family loves music. We went to Cleveland, Ohio for one reason and one reason only....  The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Museum.

I noticed downtown Cleveland, they had guitar statues, it kind of reminded me of the Book Sculptures and the Herkey Sculptures.  Placed around the outside of the museum were several larger guitars.  We had a lot of fun with them.

Okay, the boys did not so much.
They were getting tired of me taking pictures of them.

Noah was finally getting into the spirit of it all.
Johnny Cash's touring bus
Once in the museum, I could only take pictures in the entrance and the first floor entry room, once we entered we were not allowed to take any pictures because the music artist requested this.  Everything in the museum was donated by the stars so they wished for no pictures.  I will admit, we broke the rules for one picture of The Beatles signature but I will never post it.

The Police, Sting's bass guitar
In a case there were some Memorial Guitars that were designed for the 9/11 Memorial.  They were very beautiful and very touching.

The Go-Go's, Jane Wiedlin's guitar
ZZ Top's Coupe
Joan Jett's Jaguar
Van Halen's, Alex Van Halen's drum set.

If one stops in every room and listens to everything there and watches every clip, it will take 6 hours to enjoy the museum. Due to the fact the museum did not open until 10 am, we were only allowing 3 hours since we had another 10 hour drive to reach home.  We chose what we wanted to see the most. All I can say, is I really wanted to take my camera out and snap photos after photos. I loved so much of the history it had. I loved so much of the actual items.  ZZ Top's drummer had a crazy set of drums, it was completely lined with fur on the outside. Stevie Nicks outfits were so beautiful.  The Elvis room was neat to see.  My favorite was The Beatle's section.  I could have easily sat for an hour there taking it all in and listening to each album with The Beatle's describing what was going on during the recordings and their life during the making of each album.  We did spend the longest amount of time at this exhibit except for the show where they inducted the hall of fame artist.  It was very enjoyable.  I found out that KISS will never be in the Hall of Fame by their choice.  I did not catch exactly why not but I heard one of the people working there share that tid bit of information.

After we finished the museum it was on the road again to home. While we were driving my Mom thanked us again and again. She kept saying how this was the best vacation she has ever had.  This made me fell warm all over.  It was a nice vacation with exception of teen age attitudes once in awhile. I just wished we had more time every where we went.  We tried to get so much in to see everything where we could have spent more hours at each place, but then we would have seen less.  Washington DC we will be back some day and catch what we missed.  Delaware, we will be back but next time we want to spend the night in a hotel on the beach.  Pennsylvania we definitely will be back.  We want to see Philly some day.  Cleveland, I loved the museum, but we did not have a great experience with being treated "welcome", the restaurant and hotel, the workers were not friendly and they were not helpful one bit.  It was late when we made it back to Iowa. It was also very nice to sleep in our own bed that night.  All in all, we enjoyed this year's vacation.

Vacation Day 6~ Pennsylvania

We decided to break up our drive home. We felt that another 16 hour drive home would be much.  We were in no hurry back, so when we planned our vacation we planned to drive from Delaware to Cleveland, Ohio.  Shortly into Pennsylvania we came across these two bridges.  They both were interesting to me, thus a photo opportunity while driving.

Upper Pennsylvania is much different looking than the southern part.  The mountains were less rocky and more trees. This road I thought was beautiful.  I would love to drive on this road during the fall when all the leaves are in bright autumn color.

On our path we decided to make a little stop for the day.  We thought, well we are driving so close to Hershey, Pennsylvania why not stop?  So we did.  A lot of the street names are of candy, it was kind of neat. We ended up going to the Hershey Museum and spent a few hours going through the museum and a little free tour.  It was neat and something small and nice to do on a day that would have been just driving.

The boys had a good time.  My Mom had another shopping opportunity. I swear she loved all the gift shops where ever we stopped. I was glad that she was having a good time.  My Mom and the boys did some sort of taste test on possible new flavors for kisses. We all had a sample after our little tour.  After a few hours there it was time to hit the road again and drive some more through Pennsylvania.

He he he... He could not hide his face this time.
I took a picture of you Ethan. :)
We actually drove through several mountains.  Todd laughed at me and said I was such a tourist.  Well umm....yeah.  I was and that is just how I roll.  I am kind of dorky like that but he loves me for who I am.
Pennsylvania it seemed like forever we drove through that state.  We finally made our destination late evening. We checked in and went to a Denny's.  The worse service we have ever had.  They were slow and they were rude.  NEVER go to the Denny's in Cleveland, Ohio near the airport.

Vacation Day 5 ~ Delaware

Washington DC is a little more than 2 hours away from the ocean.  When we started to plan our vacation Todd mentioned how it would be cool to see the ocean for he has never seen it.  I loved the idea because Ethan and Noah has not seen it as well.  We found a town, Rehoboth Beach, Delaware where we can enjoy the ocean.  We wanted to spend the night there where Todd and I could go out for a special dinner and walk along the beach for our anniversary but the hotels were way to expensive for us, so we decided to stay in Dover for the night.  Plans were made and on Day 5 of our vacation we set off to Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.

Delaware had a lot of road construction.  We made a wrong turn and unfortunately that took an hour from our day due to the road construction.  However the summer homes are absolutely gorgeous.
We finally found the beach and enjoyed nearly 3 hours.  Sadly my Mom, Todd, and I did not have our swim suits with us.  We thought there would be a place on the beach were we could go to change into our suits.  We found out we were wrong.  This did not stop us getting our feet wet though.
The boys had a good time.  The only thing bad was they swallowed a lot of ocean water.  Later on that night, poor Noah became ill from the water we believe.  Poor little guy.

After our time on the beach we drove to Lewis, Delaware to catch a ferry.  We thought it would be fun to ride it across the Delaware Bay and go to Cape May, New Jersey.  It was a lot of fun. It was very relaxing.  It just happened to be Family Fun Day, so they had special activities for children and their families.

Above: Mom enjoying the view.
Below: Todd showing off for me.  He loves to make me smile.

I have a fascination with light houses.
Ethan with the mascot

The boys loved it.  Noah really got into it.  He danced and danced.  Ethan would participate from time to time, but he enjoyed wandering off and just hanging out on the upper deck as well.

Our ferry ride was three hours to and from.  It was very enjoyable.  Noah, was a lucky duck and actually saw dolphins.  I was a little bummed about that because I really wanted to see one and wanted Ethan to see one too.  He had a fascination for dolphins when he was younger.
The view down from the deck.

The boys dancing with the other kids.
Todd enjoying the boys having a good time.
This is one of many reasons I love him so much.
He truly cares about my boys too.
Here is another ferry exactly like the one we were on. This one was docked for the night in Cap May, New Jersey.

The view was breath taking on our way back to Lewis, Delaware.  Todd and I spent a little time on the outside deck alone since it was our anniversary.  What a beautiful sunset.
After the ferry we drove to Dover.  It was after nine when we checked into our hotel for the night.  We wanted to go out for dinner and eat at a seafood restaurant.  We figured it had to be fresh and wonderful since we were so close to the ocean.  Up the road less than a mile we were told was a great seafood restaurant.  It took us nearly an hour just to go 1 mile because of the road construction.  The restaurant was only open for another 30 minutes.  They were so friendly and kind letting us eat there so close to closing.  I think they felt sorry for us.  I must say, they did have the best seafood I have ever eaten.  Todd was very happy because he was wanting soft shell crab in the worse way.  The boys even found something they liked since they do not like seafood.  It was a good day.
