Happy Halloween

I cannot believe 17 years ago, I was walking around street after street taking my boys trick or treating while very pregnant with this guy.

It was snowing and my coat would not go around my belly.  I would wait for them to run up to several houses and then walk a little.  Little did they know I was in labor while walking with them.  It was the very next day their little brother was born.   This is my favorite Halloween picture of Ethan.  I think it was four years ago.  He actually had his birthday party on Halloween that year and it was a costume party.  All of his friends then left with one another to go trick or treating.  I thought it was a great party and had always wanted to do one like this for him, since his birthday is November 1.  I have to say, I did a pretty good job on his make-up.

This is my favorite last picture of all four boys.  Matthew (The Joker) was a Freshman in college, Joshua (007 Jmaes Bond) was a Sophmore in High School, Ethan (Lugi) would have been in 6th grade, and Noah (Mario) would have been in 3rd grade.

I hope you all have a safe yet spooky Halloween!

Happy Halloween Ya'll!

Halloween makes me HAPPY.  My children have always been into it.  I used to decorate the yard back in Des Moines but it was always kid friendly.  Now, our yard is one of the scariest and it makes all of us HAPPY!  Noah used to be so frightened of our yard yet he was so proud he lived at the house which was known as the scariest house.  We try to pick up something new every year but do not actually decorate the yard totally until actual Halloween night due to the fact we do not want anyone to steal the decorations.  Saturday we were working on a couple of our new decorations and placed them in the garage.  I opened the garage much later that night and scared the heck out of myself.  ha ha ha

We have four of these guys.
They are suppose to be coming out of the yard,
however we are making changes.
We placed them on our tikki torches
and then added yard fabric below, to lengthen the skirt.
This guy is as long as my leg.
He is our new Vampire bat and his eye light up.
Behind the bat you can see our new Zombie Baby.

Now the inside is not scary and that is the way I like it.  I did not go all out because we have no access to the main Living Room at this time. Next year will be different because I have many projects which I was not able to complete this year but will be done for next year.  I decorated my Kitchen on Sunday.  I am very HAPPY with the way it turned out.
One of my new Kitchen towels.  I love the little scarecrow.
 Our Kitchen table.

My little Acorn girl is not new.
 I just love her.
The Scarecrow stick is new.  He was on sale at Joann's Fabric.
He was a total of $1.79.  I could not pass him up.

The placemats came from Joanne's Fabric.
They were on sale too and were $1.59 each.
They are a lot larger than I thought they were gong to be.
Just outside the Kitchen is my little girl scarecrow.
I received her in a Autumn Swap a couple of years ago.
I had a great partner.

I cannot wait to share my Halloween post this year.  This year will be the first time in many years that I do not have anyone dressing up and going out trick or treating.  Noah's school has a concert that night.  How crazy!!! On Trick-Or-Treat night.  How unfair for parents to have to chose to take out younger siblings or attend their child's concert.  Thankfully Kera will be bringing Taj over earlier so I can see him and take pictures.   Here he was last year.  I think he was the cutest, no scratch that, the most adorable lion ever.  However, I know I can be biased.
What do you think he will be this year?  Check out my post on Friday.

Sunday's Song

Halloween is coming!  We go all out in decorating our yard for Halloween.  It is definitely NOT kid friendly but the not so young children love it.  We have people who bring their children with video cameras.  One year down the street there were two German exchange students, they had to stand in front of our house to take several pictures and videos to send to their friends and family in Germany.  We have made the paper for top five best Halloween decorations.  We try to pick up something new every year to add to the yard.  Here are past year's videos and post regarding our Halloween. I must not have recorded Halloween 2011.

This is song reminds me so much of my oldest. He absolutely loved the movie Nightmare Before Christmas.  When I came across this video on Facebook, I was so in awe of the light orchestra brilliance of the home owner.  Enjoy!

Flashback Memory

This morning I was looking at pictures I uploaded on MySpace.  Yes, I just said MySpace.  I need to find a picture taken of me in 1988 for a Literary Friday post I have been working on.  I had scanned it but the computer died so I need to look for old sources I may have uploaded it to since our scanner does not work right now.  I found one but the picture is too tiny and does not show what I need, so that post will hold a tad longer until I get the picture scanned somehow.  However, I came across this series of photos which made me smile and laugh.  I just have to post about this memory.

One Summer in 2009.  Todd and I decided to get the slip and slide out for Joshua, Ethan, and Noah. Todd originally was working in the garden.  All of a sudden the four of them created a water game with a water ball, slip and slide, and a wading pool.  I do not think they really had rules, the objective was for the person to be able to run from the wadding pool, slide down the slip and slide and run back to the pool without out being tagged by a person with the water ball. They could not be tagged out if they were in the pool or in the tiny pool at the end of the slip and slide.  It reminds me of a game of hot box a little where the pool of water are the bases. It was kind of unfair teams, Joshua and Todd against Ethan and Noah but the four of them had a great time.  I think they played this game for a couple of hours.  The laughter of the four I can still hear by looking at the below photos.

I cannot believe how little Ethan and Noah are in these pictures.  Now Ethan is taller than Joshua.  Todd has lost a lot of weight since then.  I just absolutely love fun memories!

Happy List

It is time for our HAPPY LIST party hosted by Ricki Jill over at ART @ HOME.  Go on over and check out all the happiness.

This week's Happy List is a hodge podge of happiness...

Today is drizzling and snow flurries, this does not make me happy.  I do not want snow at all because of my knees.  It has been great walking pain-free minus stairs.  However today made me HAPPY.  First thing on my HAPPY list will be my hair.  I colored it to my original hair color, minus the silver sparklies which have made their home on my head.

My boys have made me HAPPY.  They have been complimenting on my weight loss.  I have had several people at work come up to me as well.  My working out more regularly has made a big difference.  I have not started with the personal trainer as of yet because I have not picked up my doctor's note yet.

I am HAPPY in two weeks our dance lessons will start.  I am so looking forward to dancing with Todd again.

Now back to today... originally I had taken today off to go to Des Moines to be there with my Dad during his procedure.  It was cancelled, so I have spent the day with Todd.   We started with going to Hy-Vee, our grocery store and had breakfast while reading our Nooks.  We drank coffee and read for nearly an hour after our breakfast.  Oh, I have to say I am so HAPPY for pumpkin spice coffee or latte, or cappuccino.  It is the best flavor EVER!  I love the sugar-free pumpkin spice creamer.  I wish it was not just seasonal.  After our time in the cafeteria area we then went grocery shopping.  I am making something new for dinner tonight in the crock pot.  If all is well, then I will definitely be positing the recipe tonight.  After grocery shopping, I naturally put the food away, but I always first wash the vegetables and cut most into servings (not the onions or peppers, these typically wait until it is time to use)  I make sure the carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, and cucumbers are ready for a meal or just a snack.
I wash all my fruit and place them in a basket in my refrigerator.  Fresh fruit and veggies in my refrigerator waiting to be eaten makes me HAPPY!

While I was discarding the leaves and what not from cleaning the veggies, I noticed what beauty some of the trees in our backyard held even though the day was gloomy.
Sushi, makes me HAPPY!  This was our lunch today.

Now, it is a time to finish watching the Game of Thrones.  I love the theme song to this show.  Time relaxing and enjoying simple things with Todd makes me HAPPY!

Sunday's Song

Yesterday I received a call from my Mother.  She wanted to let me know, my sister Katie went to visit my Dad and he was in bad shape.  My sister thought that Hospice should be taking care of him.  She tried to talk him into going to the ER but he refused.  Then my other two sisters showed up, Lisa and Amy and the three made him go to the ER.  He was retaining fluid and could hardly talk.  Of course, I left as soon as Todd arrived home from work.  I tried to go as fast as I could but not get caught because I did not want to wait two hours to see him myself.  While I was driving, my sister Amy called.  She told me what hospital and he was going to be admitted.  Long story short, He was in the ER for eight hours.  I was there for five hours with him.  The ER was so full he did not even have a room.  He was in a hall way the entire time.  They drew his blood, they gave him an EKG and they gave him medication right there in the hallway while he laid on a gurney.  They thought they were going to have to admit him to tap him and drain the fluid, but the medication worked and he peed and peed and peed loosing a lot of fluid.  They did take him for X-ray because they wanted to rule out pneumonia because he was wheezing.  He had to have an EKG because he told them he has had chest pains twice in the past week.  The fluids were so intense, he did not even have a belly button any more and all the fluids were pushing on his organs, giving him the chest pain and making him unable to talk.  I guess he has been like this for a week.  He will see his liver specialist on Monday and we will see where he goes from there.  I had all my sisters with me during most of the five hours.  It was the four of us girls in the hallway with our father.  Although it we were untied for bad circumstances it was great to be with them.  What made it great was my two middle sisters are actually getting along.  It has been nearly eight years of them feuding.

I think it is time we get a more updated picture of the four of us.  This song is for my sisters.  Enjoy!

Happy List

  photo ArtatHomeButton_zps18898da7.jpg

It is time for our HAPPY LIST party hosted by Ricki Jill over at ART @ HOME.  Go on over and check out all the happiness.

Here is my HAPPY List this week:

Oh!!!!  This may be the HAPPIEST HAPPY List I may have EVER posted! I found out this news last Friday and it took everything inside me NOT to post it and share it with you all but I knew this had to make my HAPPY List, so here it is...

See this couple?  This is my Matthew, my oldest and his wonderful girlfriend, Hannah.  I posted about them previous on a Happy List back in June.  I think they are adorable together.I just love this girl and I am so proud of Matthew.  He has been a wonderful boyfriend to her.  Last February she found out she had a brain tumor.  Hannah shared it with me over the summer the week she started her third round of chemo and a stronger round. She shared how Matthew would have to re-teach her sometimes what she was taught prior to a test because the brain tumor makes her have short term memory loss. Her test the first time after the chemo came back inclusive and she had to have another test.
Friday they found out the results.  Hannah is now in REMISSION.  I am so thrilled with this news!  Extremely HAPPY. I was so HAPPY I started to cry once I read it. Todd knew something was going on and he came to comfort me. I am not sure if he thought something was going on with my father or what.  After I shared it he smiled and said that is great news.  I am so HAPPY!!!

What are you happy about this week?
