The next day we decided to do the same thing since we did not have Taj. This time we also brought along some veggies from our garden, hummus, and some grapes to snack on. We picked up a sandwich from culinary row and then ate our veggies as well. We saw many other folks bringing food as well and reading materials.
Sunday, the final day of the festival and Iowa City's 4th of July fireworks we decided to pack our dinner, bring a book, and enjoy the music one more time. While we were there we saw my son Ethan and his girlfriend. Later after Kera was off work, she and Taj joined us as well.
Here are a few of my favorite photos from the firework display. I always love the old Capitol building, now part of the University of Iowa's Pentacrest with fireworks in the background.
Our Actual 4th of July was laid back. Kera and Taj were with her fiance's side of the family. Yes, Kera is now engaged. Joshua is still in Florida, Ethan worked, Matthew and his girlfriend and a friend of hers came to dinner, and Noah was here of course. Emily, Kameron and her family stopped by for 30 minutes prior to leaving for her Mom's side. We were so thrilled to see our newest family members. I would love to introduce you to our little firecrackers. Watch for a post about them in two weeks.
