He spent the night with us on Saturday and we got up early in the morning, packed the car and set off for Missouri.
We spent three hours there and only saw only two thirds of the zoo before Taj became too hot and wanted to go swimming at our hotel. We piled into the car and drove another 3 hours to a town North of Columbia, Missouri where our hotel was. After dinner we all enjoyed swimming outdoors. It was so refreshing after being outdoors in the heat and the heat rising off the blacktop.
The next morning we packed up the car and drove another hour and went to a state park to see the total eclipse. We had lunch and then we put on special glasses.
There was a 20% chance of rain when it was time of totality and 5 minutes prior to totality dark clouds rolled in and blocked the sun, shortly after the temperatures dropped and the wind picked up. Birds began to sing the cicadas began singing their songs. I thought to myself I need to pick up everything quickly because if the storm coming. As I was picking up the chairs I looked up and saw the sunrise in the West and took a quick picture.
