Tour One~Section Two
Spirit of Aviation
Spirit of Aviation is the newest room and was open to visitors this year, 2011. This section transports one back to the 1950's with all the miniature planes hanging above your head as if they are in flight. Some of the wings of these plans reach 8 feet across. On display are newspaper articles regarding important events dealing with planes and key moments in aviation history.
The Carousel was opened Easter weekend, 1981 and houses what is deemed the World's Largest Carousel. It indeed is the largest I have ever seen. It has 269 handcrafted carousel animals and mythical creatures, not one of them is a horse. It has 182 chandeliers and 20,000 lights. The room is absolutely breath taking with the size and the lights. The carousel is 80 feet across, 35 feet tall, and is in constant motion. Hanging from the ceilings in this room are angels. Over 200 genuine antique carousel horses are hung on the wall. Next time I visit I plan on recording the this room myself, however this time I have added a video I found on YouTube.
