Happy List

It is that time of week again.  HAPPY LIST!   Please come check out all the happiness over at Ricki Jill's blog   Art @ Home.

I needed new bras so I decided ( this was two months ago) to go to Younkers and pick up a couple.  I loved one of the two Todd bought me for my birthday.  While I was there I came across the Summer Pajama set below.  The picture does not do justice, because you can not see the stripes on the bottoms. The bottoms have the blue of the top pin stripped as well as a light green and a coral pin stripes.

source Younkers website

As I was stating, I came across this set and fell in love.  I can not remember when it was that I owned cute Summer Pajamas, so as an incentive to lose weight I thought I would buy one size smaller.   Once I came home I found out that I was in such a hurry I bought two sizes smaller.  Well, I have lost weight since the purchase and I was just curious how close to fitting them I was.  HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY  They fit now!!! They fit me perfect, which means I prefer them to be a little loser.  I hate things that fit because I like to hide behind the clothing, in turn makes me look bigger so I am fighting this urge to buy the bigger sizes to hid.

My spring flowers are blooming.  HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY!

My little girl did not fair the winter storage.  I am going to have to get some plaster and fix her poor little head.  It was a gift from Todd on our first anniversary.

We have several starts for celery now and a few romaine lettuce.   Flowers and veggies makes me HAPPY as a lark.

Whenever I get a camera in my hand I have to snap photos of this kid.  I just think he is sooo adorable but I am his Nana.
What do you have to be happy about?

Monday Ramblings

Life is back to normal some what.  Only two more days of training and then I will be in our temporary office until late June when our new office will be complete.  Today we will be traveling on a bus (nearly an hour and half away) to a couple of our offices in Dubuque so we can job shadow and see what a day in our life will actually be like.  My class will be the first in our office so we do not have anyone to job shadow.  The next three classes will have us to job shadow.  It is going to be a roller coaster ride at first but I think it will be a great one, so many opportunities awaits and I am willing to get on this ride.  Tuesday we will review our final test we took on Friday.  It has been a long and very tiring three weeks.  Wednesday I will begin my normal hours and once again I will be able to get up early and exercise on the treadmill instead of waking up early just to leave on time to drive 80 miles one way for training.

Other than studying what has been going on?  Well the battle with the boys and their grades never ends.  The youngest went from two classes with an "F" to four.  I am not happy one bit about that.  Now I can not even log into the website and check their grades because they had to block outsiders getting in because they were having too many illegal entries so to say.  They are investigating it and will take actions upon the guilty people.  Meanwhile my boys are grounded from electronic games and computers until I am able to see a "C" or higher in every class.

My father is on depression medication now.  This worries me.  I think he has been doing so well with cancer because he has a very positive out look.  We have been told, once it starts to go it is going to go fast.  Sometime next month he will have another MRI.

I have had little time to be on the computer.  No computer time at work for personal.  It is not allowed.  Someone (insert eye roll) got on YouTube while at work and our client's data base was hacked so nothing personal at all now.  I used to read some of my blogs during lunch now I am not able to but for good reason.  I only inserted eye roll because I thought EVERYONE knew not to open anything streaming while at work because one is always taking a risk of hackers then.

Wow!  I want to go back in the worse way now, although we saw so much, there was so much we did not see.  Plus I want to take the day as we talked about an drive to the Grand Canyon.  Who knows maybe next year?  If you want to read about our three day adventure you can begin here.

Sunday's Song

I had the opportunity to see this artist perform twice.   The first time was a Valentine's Day gift from my ex-husband, the boys' father.  The concert was A M A Z I N G!  The second time I saw him was about two months before I left my ex-husband.  It was a Billy Joel/Elton John Concert and Billy Joel was in a bad place in his life.  He was admitted for treatment about four months after seeing his concert.  I have to say, his performance was not the same just like the relationship with the boys' father.  It is sad to see artist struggle but I guess that is what makes us all know, they are human too.

This song is my favorite from Billy Joel.  Enjoy!

Sunday's Song

I am so sorry I have not been posting.  One more week of training, then life will become more routine once again. I will post a catch up sometime later this week.

This past week has been... well we all know here in the states, from Boston to Texas, so much sadness.  I am having a little conflict at home on top of all things.  I have chosen a special song to me.  The song is simple and beautiful.  The harmonies with one another are perfect.  The song is about the loss of innocence but also refers to growing and changing.  Life is not easy and can be frustrating at times but some how we all can get through this.

 I'm not a child anymore.
I'm tall enough
To reach for the stars
I'm old enough
To love you from afar
To trusting... yes?
But then women usually are.
I'm not a child anymore
No, I'm not a child, oh no
Tall enough to reach for the stars
I will do
As I'm told
Even if I never hold you again.

Sunday's Song

This song brings back memories of boys.  Joshua just loved this song, he was maybe in 5th or 6th grade.  Any time the song came on, he would turn it up and dance along as if he was in the video.  Noah would always scream out Hey Ya and run around.  I loved watching him bop up and down in my rear view mirror of my mini van any time this song came on.  Ethan would always giggle when it came on.  Matthew was too of course since we was either 8th or 9th grade to act so silly but he would sing along and laugh at his little brothers.  Enjoy!

No Post This Week

Hello my friends.  As you know I started a new job.  My new job I am a Leave of Absence Coordinator for FMLA.  Now ,I have worked with medical benefits for nearly twenty years. I have worked with benefits nearly for over ten years but I am learning all the nitty gritty about FMLA.  As anything from our Federal Government it is not all black and white, there are a lot of grays.  We were given a three inch binder full of materials, which we are going over in our training class.  I am learning a lot.  Due to all of this new material, when I come home at night and after my regular Mommy duties I do not have time for the computer much at all.  I check my email and check email on Facebook and that is all I have time for right now.  The rest of my time is studying for my FMLA 101 test this Friday.  I want to excel at this because well that is just the way I roll.

I am sorry to all my blog friends, I will not participate with any Memes this week.  Unfortunately I will not be able to participate with the Ultimate Blog Party over at 5 Minutes for Moms either now.  However, Saturday and Sunday I plan to read what I missed in your lives.

I hope you all have a great week.

Sunday's Song

This song is in my top ten favorites of all times.  I love the song.  I also love the moment when it is played in Say Anything.   Enjoy!

Friday Confessional

 photo HighHeeledLove_zpsbbcc137c.jpg

It is Friday and time to confess once again.  Aubrey host the party over at High-Heeled Love

I confess...

Today is an exciting day but it will be emotional too.  It is my last day where I currently work.  Good-bye harrasment.  Good-bye worse supervisor I have ever had.

I confess...

I think I may have got her into a little hot water because she has avoided me all week.  I had to report her two weeks ago for watching the basketball tournament on her computer.  It was an ethic issue.  We have had several emails about video streaming (thus why I only read the blogs I know who do not have ads automatically playing or songs at work.) how it will slow down or crash our server.  I had no choice, but she is now avoiding me like I have the plague.  To be honest, I am okay with that.

I confess...

It is going to be very hard today too.  I am going to leave some pretty special people.  One of my good friends who has sat by me now for five years, the first three years over the divider, has cried every day since I have given my notice.  She is happy for me but we have been there to support one another.  She told me she has cried all night about it being my last day.

I confess...

I came to work to some special gifts.  Three different departments all signed my going away card and pitched in for a gift for me.  I have worked close with all of these departments over the eight year.
They gave me an angel and a gift card to Barnes & Noble. I love the angel and plan to put her on my desk once I have one at my new job.  I also plan on getting a lot of books for my Nook with the gift card.

Literary Friday - Little Wild Book One-Three

Ricki Jill from Art @ Home host this great party every Friday regarding books.  What a great Party!

I enjoyed her Jacob's Daughter series by Samantha Jillian Bayarr and thought that I would give this series a try.  She typically gives a sneak peak with some of her other books by including a chapter or close to a chapter at the end of her books, well she does with her e-books that is. My husband and I had our little weekend get away a couple of months back and I downloaded the Little Wild Flower series: Little Wild Flower: Book One, Little Wild Flower: Book Two, The Taming of Wild Flower: Book Three, and Unto Others: Companion Edition.  I read all but the companion edition.  Samantha Jillian Bayarr wrote this book series differently than she did Jacob's Daughter.  In the Jacob's Daughter series she let the reader see both characters fears and feelings as well as how very expressive with their thoughts and concerns.  The Wild Flower series she did not write this way.  This book series is written about the main character Jane Reeves and the books are continuation of her life.

Book One is about Jane Reeves' family moving to a rural farmhouse in an Amish community for a fresh start for their family, mainly her mother who is a recovering alcoholic and abusive mother in her past. Jane is fifteen and did not favor the move one bit. She spent most of her summer in her bedroom angry because she left her two best friends, Penelope and Bradley, however the end of the summer she came across the neighbor Amish boy, Elijah Zooks, who is one year older. This book is about the two lifestyles blending as they build a relationship and marry one another.

Book Two is about the life Jane and Elijah Zooks have built with one another.  We get to see how great life is for Jane and how she became Amish.  In this book we also get to see the tragedy Jane has to overcome.   This book completely drew me in and I actually laughed out loud at a few parts and my heart was beating strong with fear when her son was hospitalized.  I cried when Jane had to go through her tragedy.  This book was my favorite but very sad.  I was wiping tears away and when my husband noticed he pulled me closer and gave me a hug.  It was really needed and appropriately done by my husband.

Book Three is Jane moving on with her life and her place in the Amish community.  Jane deals with her family growing older and her new relationship with Bradley.  This book was very low key with emotions compared to book Two.

I did not want to give too much about the books away because I did not want to ruin it for you.  I really did enjoy the books and they are small books.  I am actually follow the author on Facebook and I left a comment about how much I have enjoyed this series and she responded back to me thanking me and told me after her move she plans to complete the series.  I can not wait to read what she has in store for Jane next.

Weigh In Wednesday

I am participating with Becca from Everday Life

I am very disappointed with myself.  I maintained.  It is not acceptable for me at this time.  YES!  I am being hard on myself.  It is too early to not lose anything and it is my fault because I did not do what I was suppose to.  I did not drink enough water.  I did not exercise enough.  I did not track my food.  I did do well at Easter and we went to an all you can eat buffet.  I was happy with my choice and had only one plate over half of it was a salad.  No desserts.

Last week's goals:
  1. Track Food Daily   None at all
  2. Walk 20 minutes a day  Only one day.
  3. Drink 64 oz of water a day Not one day

  2. Walk 20 minutes a day
  3. Drink 64 oz of water a day

Wordless Wednesday

Well little words:  New growth of celery!  Yay!

We Want to Know

Incognitus Scriptor

It is Wednesday and time to get to know one another a little more.  We Want to Know is hosted by Kenzie and Scriptor.  Come join in on the fun.

1.) Did you get any April Fool's pranks played on you this year?

2.) Do you take well to jokes of this nature or no?
3.) What makes you laugh?
4.) What movie did you last laugh at?
5.) What is your favorite funny movie?

Here are my answers:

1.) Did you get any April Fool's pranks played on you this year?   Nope!  None played on me nor did I try to get anyone.
2.) Do you take well to jokes of this nature or no?  I typically do.  I can not remember last when someone pulled an April Fool's prank on me.  I think it was when the boys were very young and it was the typical, "Mom, there's a spider behind you."
3.) What makes you laugh? I have a dry sense of humor.  My husband tries to make me laugh every day.  I love him for that.  I love to laugh with children or the cute things they do too.
4.) What movie did you last laugh at? I can not remember the last movie we went to which made me laugh, but we watched all of the episodes of Arrested Development last month.  That show cracked me up.
5.) What is your favorite funny movie? This is a hard one to answer.  I am going to have to say Meet the Fockers, only because of sentimental value with it.  It was the movie my husband and I went to see on our first date.

Happy List

 photo ArtatHomeButton_zps18898da7.jpg

Wednesday means time for my HAPPY LIST.  This little party is hosted by Ricki Jill from Art@Home.  If you want to play or check it out, please come on over and visit her.

The weather is a little cold, hopefully our last cold front. Signs of Spring is coming are showing up every where and this makes me so HAPPY. I have so many flowers starting to come up. I think this weekend I am going to actually get out in the yard and do a little cleaning up from Fall. We tend to leave some of the leaves in the front yard over my flowers to help keep them warmer and to serve as compost. I LOVE Spring! A time for renewal. HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY!!! I have a new plan for my lily garden to keep the rabbits out this year. I can not wait to see it grow and spread like my favorite flower bed. My flower gardens makes me HAPPY.

My favorite flower bed near the beginning of the season and prior to the new mulch
My Day Lily garden last year. (Excuse the long grass, our mower was broken.)

Easter was okay, this year. It was odd. We ended up meeting Todd's family in Davenport and went out to a buffet. We stood in line for nearly an hour, but I enjoyed the company. It has been so nice the past year with our get together, no drama and this makes me super HAPPY! Kera changed her plans at the last minute so we were unable to see her or Taj on Easter. This was not so happy for Todd and I. We were so excited to give our Easter basket to him and see the little guy.

However, we did give it to him on Monday after I came home from work. He pulled Elmo out right away and kept squeezing the toes to make him laugh. We have a Tickle Me Elmo he enjoys at our house. When he gets tired he tries to snuggle with him, but Elmo's belly is sort of hard for the tickle me computer, so Papa and Nana picked up a soft Elmo for him to take home to snuggle with. Taj loves books. HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY Nana loves Eric Carle books, so does him Mama. We picked up Elmo's Easter Parade (a must for Taj), 5 Little Monkeys Jumping On The Bed (Taj loves this little song.), and Eric Carle's Papa Please Get The Moon For Me.

We also picked up a couple of Spring/Summer PJs and one tiny chocolate Easter Bunny. Monday night a few hours after Kera left with Taj, she posted a picture to Facebook and tagged Todd and I, her comment was: Someone is excited about his new PJ's. Thank you Nana and Papa!

Does this picture scream with his excitement or what? HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY I just smile with a little giggle every time I see it.

What do you have to be HAPPY about? Come join in on the fun.
