Friday Confessional

It is Friday and you all know what that means?  Yep, you guessed it, time to fess up.  Come join the fun over at Aubrey's High-Heeled Love.  She host this little party every Friday.
I confess...

It has been so long since I have done a Friday Confessional and this week my emotions were all over the place.

I confess...

It began with my son's graduation.  I need to back up one week prior.  It was the first weekend we did not have Taj in six weeks so we had to hit the outdoor work hard.  Saturday, I worked hard on the front landscape.   While I was working a cardinal was hanging out near me.  Cardinals are special birds my Grandpa Rich would tell us.  He told us our passed loved one's spirit will come visit in cardinals and butterflies.  I have seen cardinals a lot in our yard this year.

I confess...

The day after Ethan graduated, I sat on our bed and was reflecting on the past two days and wishing how my Dad could have been there.  Our window was open and all of a sudden I heard "Cheer, Cheer."  I looked up and on a tree branch I saw a cardinal looking towards me singing "Cheer, Cheer."  Did you know that is the sound of a cardinal?  I smiled and said "Thank you Dad." and the bird flew away.  I knew then, my Dad was there through out all of it.

I confess...

I love my employer so much!  Wednesday they treated everyone and one adult guest to a ball game and all the food, hamburgers, hot dogs, brats, popcorn, peanuts, cookies, pop, beer, and bottled water we wanted.  It was such a great night for Todd and I to get away.  The weather was perfect, the seats were great, the company was fun, and the Kernels won.

I confess...

The next day was tough and we had to lose a family member.  I know it was the right thing to do.  She went so peacefully.

I confess...

Tomorrow we are going to the Farmer's Market to pick up a special little yard ornaments for both of our little fur babies we have lost.  We lost Libby five years ago this August, she was nearly 13 years at the time.  Tilly is the one in the background.

I confess...

We finalized our vacation plan.  All of our reservations and tours have been made.  It is going to be so much fun.  I cannot wait to be on vacation!

What do you have to confess this week?

Good-Bye Tilly

Today I had to say good-bye to a friend.  Yes, she was my friend.
Tilly would have been 22 years old in two months.  She was so in tuned to our feelings.  Whenever someone was upset she was there to love us and comfort us.  Her quality of life has gone down so quickly.  Last Friday afternoon she threw up and had blood in it.  What disturbed me more was she just laid down in it after she was done.  It was the sign we knew it was time for her.  We were told that there was a good chance she had diabetes, hypothyroidism, and/or cancer.  We were told what we did was giving her a gift to die in dignity.
I will miss you my sweet Tilly.  I love you.

Graduation ~ The Ceremony

During Ethan’s party, I realized I did not even pick up a card for him.  His gift was his Spain trip back in March, so Sunday morning before his graduation, I ran to the store to purchase his card.  I looked at four different cards and then picked out another.  I started to cry after I read the second page.  I knew this was the one.  My husband came down the aisle and looked at me.  I just told him I found the one and how it made me cry.  He smiled and told me how much he loves me.

I made the big breakfast my special graduate requested and then shortly after that it was time.

 Ethan with my Mom.

He just got his smart phone at the beginning of the month.
This is all I see him doing now.
Pre-Ceremony at the Carver Aerna where the
Hawkeyes play basketball and wrestle.
All of the diplomas waiting to be handed out to the class of 2015.

Getting ready to line up for the stage presentation.

His name will be called shortly!
 I must fight the tears...
Yep, I moved from crying and did not get the shot.

Trying to find his hat after they threw them up into the air.
Post Ceremony.  I love this picture of my boys!
They are such a handsome bunch!
I love this one too.  It is such a great picture of the three of them.
Kera looks good in this one.  Taj was warn out from the long ceremony.
Miss Madi and her beau the graduate.
Tod and Joshua just waiting to find Ethan again.
Alright everyone.  This picture is a good shot of the boys with their aunt.
Their aunt is showing a lot of signs of the family disease.
She kept it from us this year because she did not want to ruin Ethan's Senior year.
I love this photo of them but look between Joshua and Ethan.
Yep, someone photo bombed it.  I cracked up laughing when I saw it.
 Ethan with his other grandmother.

Where has the time gone?  It seems just like yesterday he graduated from preschool where yes, I cried when he walked across the stage then too.  Now, I have only a little more than two months and my little cuddle bug will be moving out.  I am going to miss this kid.  I am so proud of you Ethan and love you.

Graduation Weekend ~ The Party

This past weekend was a very emotional one.  My third child graduated.  I knew this one was going to be a tough one.  Ethan has been my easiest child to raise.  He is so typical middle child, very laid back and can be overlooked so easily and has been by extended family members and with all the issues Noah caused, I feel Ethan’s senior year was not what it should have been.  However May I made sure to make extra efforts to make him feel special.  When we went to pick out his tuxedo for prom, he was trying to find the cheapest tuxedo.  I told him not to worry about the expense, I wanted him to get what he wanted and looks good in.  I told him we are not even going to ask for the cost and just get what is best for him.  I loved his smile he gave me.

Ethan’s party was a huge success.  At one time we had about 30 of his friends in our backyard, deck, porch, or house of course some did not stick around but many did.  He ended up having five or six teacher showing up as well.  The weather was beautiful and besides the food, display of his work throughout elementary, junior high, and high school, slide show, and board to display pictures of your honoree we had outdoor games for people to play, such as badminton, Frisbee, and the wiffle ball catch game.  The games are what kept the kids in the yard.  Several of Ethan’s friends told him he had the best party.  This made my son feel great and exactly what I wanted him to feel.  I am so happy his party was a success.

 Outdoor seating.
Please ignore how the deck needs cleaned and resurfaced.
We did not have enough time to get it done prior to the party
due to Noah and having Taj for five weekends in a row.
 Part of the indoor seating
Ethan's picture board, 2nd Grade Class Poetry Book, and Ethan's Senior Picture/Guest book.
Ethan's slide show presentation along with a photo of my Dad and Ethan. Two months before my Dad died, he asked me if Ethan was going to graduate that May.  When I told him no it was next year he had so much disappointment in his eyes.  I know what he was thinking.  I think he thought he would try to hold out because he wanted to be there, but he knew he could not hold out for another year.  Knowing this I wanted something of my Dad there and thought this picture of the two was a loving tribute and Ethan can have the picture and frame as a keepsake.
I did not get a nice close up of his pictures beginning
Kindergarten up through his Senior year.
The table with some of his school work display prior to the prairie home.
Ethan works at Hy-Vee a grocery chain found in Iowa and Nebraska.
Hy-Vee's gift to all of their employees who their graduating is a full sheet cake.
They will decorate it to our chose as well.  What a wonderful gift!

At the beginning of the party I found two special uninvited guest.
