April's Happy List ~Flowers, Ice Cream, & Vacation

**I know I have been posting less these days.  I am trying to post once a week at least.  So many things have been going on in my life and my blog is about me and my life, a place to share and a place to enjoy friends I have made through blogging.  My life has had many demanding events the past two years and I chose to not post them as often because I do not want my blog to be that type of blog.  I might post a tad from time to time about it but I do not want it to be the focus and well...Noah has been a focus of my time the past two years.  When he is good, life is great at home.  When he is acting up, well sometimes it is a struggle...but I will constantly look for the silver lining in life because I will not let it get me down entirely.  I know I am losing readership/followers, for that I am sorry but I have to be me.  With that said on to my post.**

April has such beauty here in Iowa.  After many months of Winter, cold and typically snow, trees without green leaves, grass without the beautiful green and lack of flowers...April is definitely life.   April has a double meaning for me anymore though, it may have a day I hate and it may have some depressing weeks at the beginning but I love the way the earth wakes up in April.  Here are a few pictures of my flowers this year in my front yard.  They definitely make me happy.

My lilacs are just beginning to get flower buds and soon will be in full bloom.  I have three bushes and one will bloom in early May, the other mid May, and the last late May to early June.  I am in the look for the brand which re-blooms through out.  I just love lilacs.

Christian (Noah) has a job at an ice cream shop.  It is so cute.  We went for ice cream at the end of his shift.

Making plans for vacation is also making me happy right now.  I love to get away.  This year will be so low key compared to last year, which I am so missing Yellowstone.  I think my heart is still there.  I am also excited we have chosen our destination for Summer 2017...The Grand Canyon.  We also have set plans on traveling through out Iowa and seeing things again this Summer since the weather is getting better as well.  We plan to go to Door County in Wisconsin and see some Cubs games.  I am super excited to share those with you all, some of my bucket list will be crossed off this year for sure.

Friday Confessional ~ Work and Car

Come join the fun over at Aubrey's High-Heeled Love. She host this little party every Friday.

I confess...

I am going to participate at least monthly with Friday Confessional again.

I confess...

The last few days in March and beginning of April was very hectic but ended up being very rewarding.  My Supervisor was on vacation for 6 days of work, which meant the Team Lead was in charge.  That would be me.  I had to do my duties (not all as soon as I would have liked) and some of her duties.

I confess...

I know I do not want to be a supervisor from this experience.  It was so stressful to meet the speed of answer with as many people calling in and not coming to work. We have an attendance issue.

I confess...

My Supervisor and Client Service Representative really surprised me by recognizing how well I did by giving me a Visa gift card.  My Supervisor also nominated me for a Perk Nomination which is one hour off of work paid.  I love where I work.

I confess...

During this stressful time, I had to deal with people at work who are battling depression and break downs.  This is where the very stressful came in because I never had a break from dealing with this due to Noah was acting up as well during this time.

I confess...

I bought a treat for all of my co-workers to reward all of their hard work while our Supervisor was on vacation.  We were able to work hard with and meet our metrics and earn our company a bonus for the quarter.  It was not an easy task since so many people called in.  I am very proud of most of my co-workers who showed respect to me and worked hard.

I confess...

I also had to do some repairs to my car, over $600 and was told I have nearly $3000 more.  One of the repairs needed to be done by the end of May and would be a little more than $1000 for this repair alone.  Oh, that was not the worse of it either.  As I was driving home last Friday, I had no break pressure, hardly any breaks.  This was not on the list at all.  The next day, we went window shopping for a new car for me and came home with this.  I am in love with it.

I confess...

The Joint Emergency Communication Center in Johnson County ( 9-1-1 Dispatch Center) won Team Telecommunicators of the Year in the state of Iowa.  They won after Todd nominated the team who worked the night of the shooting at the mall.
I attended the banquet and award ceremonies.  They also recognized dispatchers who have over 20 years of service.
Annie has been there for 25 years.  Todd has been at the convention all week.  I am happy he came home last night.

I confess...

Tuesday, was Noah's first day of his new job.  He found a job for the Summer basically.  He is working at Heyn's Ice Cream Shop.  He is super excited and his mood is much better now.

What do you have to confess this week?

(Which marks two weeks to the day will be his 2nd year of leaving us to go to heaven.)  March 27-April 9 are hard on me.  I am in hopes this year will be a little easier since I survived the first year and he has been coming to me in dreams.  They are peaceful dreams, he is happy, so happy.  The last one was a day after I posted how I miss his laugh.  My dream he visited me, I did not see him anywhere but I heard him laughing and laughing.  He had a wonderful laugh.   SUCCESS.  It was a very good Easter with our children.  You can read about it here.
  • Meet with a personal trainer.  He is going to help me with my diet as well as a routine for my knees.  My goal is to walk next year in the Relay For Life on a team in honor of my Dad. FAILED   On hold, too many car repairs popped up.
End of March and beginning April was a tough one.  I am posting this a little late and I am also going to take it a little easy on myself this month.

  • Breathe... Get past April 9th.
  • Step up and cover for my Supervisor while she is out on vacation.
  • Finish My Book

I Hate You April 9th!

HATE is such a strong word, and one I rarely use but I do HATE April 9th, it is almost like my 9/11.
It is so hard to believe today marks the 2nd Anniversary of my Dad passing.  I really have come to terms with it but his birthday and this day are my toughest days.  I am trying my best not to cry today because that is what my Dad would want.  He told me he did not want a headstone because he did not want his girls to cry for him and go to a place and morn him.

 Below: Our last family picture
It is wrong for me to be sad because that is just being selfish but I do miss him, but today I will remember him not morn him.

My Dad battled cancer for two and half years and he was so brave.  It was only two months after he was diagnosed he was told he had six months by the first set of doctors. Six months later, his oncologist gave him six months.  My Dad kept going.  He would tell me he had nothing to complain about and keep going.  He would tell me he thought it was all an insurance scam because he felt healthy.  He did not believe he had cancer.  He took his medicine and kept on going.  For two years he did this and then cancer started to beat him.  My Dad took this bravely too.

next to her is my Dad.

My parents had a ten year gap between the two middle children.
Below: One of my favorite Christmas memories,
My Dad and Mom kissing under the mistletoe.
My Dad had 7 grandsons, 4 granddaughters,
2 great grandsons, and 2 great granddaughters.
He had 4 daughters.
He had 4 brothers and 3 sisters.
My Dad lost his Dad to cancer years ago and his Mom is still here.
He had sister in-laws and brother in-laws
13 nieces and nephews and several greats and great-greats.
He loved each and everyone of us.
My Dad told me several times how sorry he was for the choices he made in his life.  He did this two years before he was diagnosed with Cancer but said it more often after he was diagnosed with it.  He loved his family and wished he did not waste as many years away from us.
My Dad had such a great sense of humor.  He would always try to make you laugh.  I was told he did this up to the end, his sister stuck out her tongue at him as she was leaving and my Dad returned the love by sticking his tongue back at her.
My Dad loved his family.  My Grandmother cried and cried at his bed side the last night but my Dad comforted her and told her he will always be with her.

My Dad is no longer suffering and I know he is in heaven with his Father and Grandparents.  He is also with his Grandson, Randall.  My Dad sends reminders to me  and visits me in my dreams from time to time.  I know my Dad is still with me.  I am thankful one day, I know I will see him again when it is my time to enter eternal life in heaven.  However, while I am here on earth, I will still hate April 9th.

He Loves Me
